You're invited to join Team Boom-Boom for our 4th annual community service event with the City Year Serve-A-Thon!
Team up with thousands of other volunteers as we take part in up to 100 hours of round-the-clock service that will lead to community and social change and will help to build a better Boston!

When: Volunteer activities run from Friday, May 4, through Monday, May 8, but the main event kicks off on Saturday morning, May 5th, at 9:00 am. The day ends at 4:00pm. If you can't make it Saturday, but would still like to participate, just post on the evite when you'd like to volunteer and I'll join you (with the exception of Friday evening). Check out information on other volunteer shifts.

Where: For the Saturday event, we'll meet at Harbor Point, Dorchester for breakfast and registration. After a brief ceremony, we'll head out at 9:30 sharp for our volunteer site (TBA). Detailed directions will be provided.

Reasons to join: Support an awesome non-profit that engages youth in powerful community service. Make Boston a better place. Have a great time with new friends and old. Eat a free breakfast and lunch. Get a free T-shirt. And if you like a challenge, win special recognition as the Team Boom-Boom member who participates for the most hours, or raises the most funds.

Cost: $25 to register, but the more the merrier. All funds raised will help the young leaders of City Year Boston make a difference in the life of a child during their year of service through literacy tutoring, mentoring, after-school activities, school vacation programs and community service opportunities. Last year, Team Boom-Boom raised over $350 to help City Year members rebuild New Orleans. If you'd like to participate but can't pay, just say the word!

To sign up: Register online (be sure to join Team Boom-Boom!), and indicate on the evite which days you'd like to participate. I will provide further details via email. Pass the word along!

Keepin' it Green

Since the Serve-A-Thon is all about helping communities, Team Boom-Boom participants are encouraged to "Keep it Green!" Ride your bike, take the T, mount your pegasus or whatever you've got that doesn't pollute. Of course this is an optional challenge that is more feasible for local folks, so if you've got to drive we love your presence on the team just as much!
